The Netsys 12 Volt Power over Ethernet (PoE) Adapter (NP-100PD12) delivers data and electrical power (12V DC) to access points, IP cameras, and other network equipment using standard Category 5 Ethernet cable. This eliminates the need for electrical cable and power converters at each remote location.

The Netsys NP-100PD12 Power over Ethernet Adapter is ready for plug and play installation right out of the box and requires no tools or software. The Netsys PoE Adapter is lightweight and it's compact size means you can locate it virtually anywhere. The NP-100PD12 transfers data on Category 5 Ethernet cable pairs 1/2 and 3/6. Power (12V DC) is transmitted on unused Ethernet pairs 4/5 and 7/8. It has an operational range up to 328 ft./100m, a requirement of the Fast Ethernet standard. For longer distance applications, the NP-100PD12 can be coupled with the Netsys HyperXtender PoE Plus Kit (NVF-200POEKIT) to provide broadband data speeds and remote power over a single twisted-pair of network or phone grade cable.

With the Netsys NP-100PD12 12 Volt PoE Adapter you can mount devices such as an access point virtually anywhere in a building without worrying about the location of a power supply. And when coupled with the Netsys Ethernet HyperXtender PoE Plus Kit (NVF-200POEKIT), the NP-100PD12 can be used to provide long-distance broadband data speeds and power for network devices over a single twisted-pair copper cable.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a method where power is transmitted to Ethernet-connected equipment (VoIP telephones, wireless access points, security cameras, etc.) from the central location. By using existing Cat5 cabling, the need for AC power (and wiring costs) can be eliminated. The switch is also able to control power distribution to the powered devices allowing sophisticated, uniterruptible power management for vital systems. Because the need for AC power cords is avoided, PoE solutions have the following benefits:

Cost Savings: PoE significantly reduces the need for electricians to install conduits, electrical wiring, and outlets throughout the facility.

Flexible Remote Network Device Locations: With PoE, you don't need to depend on only locations within short distances from AC outlets.

Higher Reliability: Systems with fewer wires tend to be more reliable.
