The New Netsys NVF-800C HyperXtender 8-Port Managed Ethernet Switch provides a cost effective networking solution for SOHO, office buildings, schools and other multi-dwelling or multi-tenant units by combining a low-density 8-port layer 2 switch with the ability to extend Ethernet connections up to 6,200 feet (1.9 km) over existing phone lines.

The New Netsys HyperXtender Ethernet Networking solution including the NVF-800C 8-Port Managed Ethernet Switch with extended distance Ethernet combined with the NVF-200RE HyperXtender Remote Unit delivers everything needed to quickly distribute network connections and high-speed Internet access throughout the SOHO, office buildings, and schools environments over existing phone lines. The NVF-800C is a fully managed layer 2 switch that offers quality of service (QOS), link aggregation dynamic trunking groups, multicast, security, GVRP, IGMP for VOD (video on demand), SNMP RMON and web-based switch network management. The NVF-800C provides high and low priority queuing per port based on 802.1p QOS. The NVF-800C provides security through 802.1Q port-based virtual local-area network (VLAN) and supports port based network access control. The NVF-800C's Ethernet Uplink Port connects to a Router or Ethernet Switch and acts as the bridge to the network for end-users connected through the NVF-800C's 8 extended distance Ethernet ports. The second Ethernet Uplink Port may be used to daisy chain additional NVF-800C units or connecting to a video-on-demand server or other IP capable system for distributing content to the end-user.

The NVF-800C automatically configures speeds on a per-link basis to support 5 Mbps up to 6,200 feet (1.9 km), 15 Mbps up to 4,333 feet (1.3 km) and 25 Mbps up to 2,666 feet (0.8 km). The line speed of the NVF-800C is able to be configured by the user as well to provide maximum control over the bandwidth provided to the remote units. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) feature can be utilized as an indication to the service provider as to the quality of the link between the NVF-800C and the NVF-200RE Remote Unit. Additionally, the NVF-800C features built-in POTS/ISDN splitters, which enable your existing phone services to share the same phone line, thus adding convenience and minimizing overall implementation cost. The POTS/ISDN lines and extended distance Ethernet links connect to standard RJ-45 connectors on the front of the NVF-800C and are broken out on the end-user side by the NVF-200RE HyperExtender Remote Unit, which features one 10/100/1000 Ethernet Port and one POTS/ISDN Port.

The intelligent web-based management software, allows for streamlined configuration of the NVF-800C, as well as NVF-200RE Remote Units through a single IP address. The NVF-800C provides comprehensive hardware diagnostics and is easy to maintain. The NVF-800C unit is one rack-unit high, 10-inches deep (255mm) and can be easily mounted in a rack/cabinet or placed on a desktop. The resulting compact, cost-effective form factor offers IT Managers and Systems Integrators an attractive low-density extended distance networking solution.
